Planning, producing and directing, in the field and edit room, both hard news and feature items for NBC and BBC News bulletins and BBC Sport. Kevin has overseen the process from the planning stages, both editorial and financial, through the filming to the edit. In planning, he determines the shoot locations and characters, plans sequences, calculates the budget and organises logistics. He has been responsible for getting programme commissions and seeing them through to broadcast, on time and in budget. In the field and later in the edit room, he has worked closely as liaison between the cameraman, picture editor and correspondent, ensuring we are telling the right story and in a way the viewer will understand.
Beginning as an evening news assistant at NBC News in Moscow, Kevin soon became a producer for the US network working on several major US-Soviet Summits in Moscow, London and Vancouver, the first broadcast interview with Mikhail Gorbachev, the August 1991 Coup, the Velvet revolution in Prague and the Soviet Withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Joining BBC News in 1993, Kevin has produced news and sport items in over 60 countries worldwide. Covering array of news stories including the Yeltsin years, White House siege of October 1993, Chechnya war, visits to Russia of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, Rwandan genocide, Bosnian war, Kosovo refugee crisis and NATO intervention, Ebola in Zaire, Liberia and Sierra Leone Civil Wars, Albanian uprising.
For two years, Kevin worked on Ten O'clock news features with BBC Environment Correspondent David Shukman from Greenland, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Antarctica and the UK. Following on-going stories such as climate change, bird flu, renewable fuels and science relating to the Asian Tsunami. Senior producer for BBC News interview with HRH Prince of Wales.
In recent years, Kevin has worked with a succession of BBC Correspondents including a stint as producer for Europe Editor Gavin Hewitt. He produced a week-long series of programming on the threat of drought to the Colorado River with Matthew Price, he produced coverage for BBC News at Ten from Rome on the resignation of Pope Benedict and the election of Pope Francis and was stage producer for the BBC Election bus ahead of the election of Barack Obama in 2008.
